Oxidation properties of aldehyde compound
The light-assisted carbonyl group can undergo two types of jumps: one is η─→π (absorbing light at wavelengths near 290 nm); in the ultraviolet spectrum leads to the characteristic absorption line of an aldehyde or ketone at 290 nanometers and allows the latter to undergo two types of photochemical reactions with aldehydes or ketones:
Aldehydes are more easily oxidized than ketones because of the presence of a hydrogen atom on their carbonyl carbon atom.
What are the properties of aldehydes?

aldehyde compound is in witch the carbon group attached to the aldehyde group in the molecule and the general formula for aldehydes is RCHO, saturated monoaldehydes have the formula CnH2nO and acetaldehyde has the short molecular formula C24H. the functional group is the aldehyde group (-CHO). dehydrogenation or oxygenation reaction is called oxidation reaction, acetaldehyde is easily oxidized to acetic acid, upon breaking of aldehyde group at C-H, formation of C-OH, oxidizing acetaldehyde.
